Tom Smith, also known as Son of Philip, is a Nottingham-born music producer, composer, and audio engineer. His richly textured and evocative sound has captivated influential figures such as Mary Anne Hobbs, Tom Ravenscroft, Overmono, Ben UFO, James Holden, and has been celebrated by outlets like Mixmag and other key tastemakers in the electronic music scene.
Earlier this year, his debut solo album, Plastic Borough, was released on Running Circle Records, showcasing his intricate, emotive approach to music creation.
Beyond his solo projects, Tom has also ventured into composition and sound design for visual media. He recently composed his first feature-length film score for New Dawn Fades, a film by Gürcan Keltek that was nominated for the Concorso Internazionale Award at the Locarno Film Festival. For his work, Tom was awarded Best Film Score at the Adana Film Festival.
